This glorious route passing through Boyaca and Santander, two departments north-east of Bogotá, is now being rediscovered by a new generation of Colombia travellers, looking for beauty, adventure and stunning countryside. Villa de Leyva - One of the favourite holiday destinations for Colombians, because of it's colonial charm, fabulous bars and restaurants and breathtaking natural surroundings. If you want to party, go at the weekend. There's always loads of live music and loads of people having a great time! 🥳 If you want to stay a little bit out of town somewhere quiet and beautiful I'd recommend Renacer.
For somewhere close to the centre but still relaxing and charming, try Nibiru.

El Hoyo del Aire - Prepare to be amazed by the awe-inspiring vertical cave set amidst beautiful mountainous surroundings. Catch a bus from Barbosa to reach the town of La Paz.

San Gil - A longstanding favourite for adrenaline seekers and nature lovers, San Gil is known for its thrilling adventure sports, enchanting rivers, and captivating waterfalls. Macondo Hostel is highly recommended. Barichara - "The most beautiful village in Colombia" offers a plethora of fantastic restaurants, cultural activities and incredible views.
For a great stay exactly halfway between San Gil and Barichara, and easily accessible by bus, from where you can base yourself for all the activities of the region, try La Pacha Hostel.
Chicamocha Canyon - Marvel at the grandeur of the largest canyon in South America, Chicamocha Canyon, best seen from the while paragliding. La Mesa de Los Santos - For rock climbing enthusiasts, La Mesa de Los Santos is a fantastic destination, and you can find comfortable accommodations at Hotel Refugio de la Roca.Bucaramanga - Explore the charming colonial neighborhood of Girón in Bucaramanga, and discover the upscale ambiance of La Cabecera.
